My lecturer got sacked 5 days before the finals. Hooray.
This is an email i got.
Hi Everyone,
Sorry for not posting a summary earlier, I haven't been able to get onto MUSO for the last two days.
We had about 20 people make it, which was absolutely fantastic given the late notice.
I went through some general issues with the course, e.g. the amount of information provided, the poor quality of the lectures and lecture notes, the half-baked assessment tasks, the useless labs and tutes, the introduction of material in week 13 and week 14, not having access to our marks via MUSO, and lack of information about the exam.
Ian Marshall was very receptive and apoligised that the course was obviously flawed and taught poorly. He confirmed that Mazid has been sacked, and will not be at Monash next year.
We discussed a number of options, e.g. making the exam open book, having alternate assessment, scaling our internal marks up so the exam was not worth as much, but we didn't gain any ground. Ian Marshall said he would remove any material from the exam which was taught in Week 13, this includes MRP and Simulation. However - I would still advise studying for this, as they are probably integral to other questions unfortunately.
As a solution, Ian said that as chief examiner, he would ensure none of us were disadvantaged by scaling our marks.
In the end, I think we achieved very little, other than the knowledge our marks will be scaled, which is of little consolation.
